Michael Gabriel - is a painter, printmaker
and illustrator. He has specialized
in art direction and background painting
for many internationally acclaimed
animated films including 'The Snowman',
'Pink Floyd, The Wall', 'Famous Fred',
'The Wind in the Willows', 'The Bear',
'When the Wind Blows', 'War Game',
and three 'Asterix' films. He was
background director for the award
winning series 'The World of Peter
Rabbit and Friends'.
He studied at Massachusetts College
of Art in Boston and The Ruskin School
of Drawing in Oxford. He was a founder
member of Oxford Printmakers and has
taught etching, painting, and life
drawing classes for many years.
Michael often draws from a live theatre,
creating a record of actors, dancers,
and performers from broad spectrum
of theatre in England and abroad.
He has exhibited at Christ Church
Picture Gallery, Oxford, Bristol City
Museum and Art Gallery, and Gloucester
City Museum and Art Gallery. His work
is represented in the print collection
of the Ashmolean Museum, Oxford.
